Tons of shady stuff was going on. Things lik short selling o game oucomes, something reserved for ardent MBAs working in “real” investment banks and SEC-registered hedge funds.

Yes, all it needs is more time. Workable legislation will come as the industr phases out of its baby-hood and becomes mature.
For example msture attitude by Carsten Koerl sort of proves that although things are nascent; th folks working in this business do not want to run away from problems; instead actively work with regulators to fix the wrongs.
