This live casino dealer is sad because a player lost $13k and then went nuts

Players should not blame the live dealer for their losses

I was going through this Reddit thread by a live dealer who was shouted and cursed at when one of the players on his blackjack table went totally berserk after losing $13k. He started hurling all sorts of expletives at him blaming him for his loss. First have a go at this OP’s post:

Just watched a guy put 13k on a blackjack hand, lose, and have a nervous breakdown in the chat.
Live casino dealer here, just finished playing at a VIP table and this guy joined and got blackjack, then bet 13k. He lost and flipped out, cursing at me, saying I ruined his life, etc.

Bruh all I did was my job. I feel bad for him but damn.

I’m going to address him directly.

That moment at the VIP table sounds like it shook you up, and I totally get why. You were just dealing cards, keeping the game rolling, when a player hit a blackjack, got hyped, and dropped a massive $13,000 bet on the next hand.

Then, when they lost, they lost it; cursing you out in the chat, saying you ruined their life. That’s heavy, and it’s okay to feel a mix of sympathy for them, frustration at being their target, and maybe even a bit of guilt.

You were doing your job, plain and simple. The player made their choice to bet big, and the cards didn’t go their way. Their outburst; blaming you, unloading all that anger; wasn’t about you.

It was about their loss, their stress, maybe even their life outside the game. But when you’re the one dealing, it can feel personal, especially when the stakes are that high. You said you feel bad for them but aren’t sure how to process it, and that’s a sign you’re human. Those feelings show you care, but they don’t mean you’re responsible for what happened.

This kind of thing can stick with you, especially when it’s as raw as that chat meltdown. The VIP table is a pressure cooker; big bets, big emotions, and sometimes big blowups.

Here are a few interesting replies within the same thread:

He ruined his own life, he wants to talk after literally ruining his own life up? Good riddance, maybe downed another 15k on top of that shit too. If you gamble all of your problems then blame it on someone else, you deserve it.

That’s so dumb of him, what if he’d gotten two aces? He’d need another $13k to split, and possibly $26k more to double down twice. Potentially he could have more splits than that.

It’s dumb to bet money you can’t comfortably afford to lose, but if someone insists on doing that they should do it on a hand of baccarat.

Now here’s a funny take on this situation by a Redditor

At least tell us what the hand was. If I had 13k to bet on a hand and was dealt a 16 and made the wrong move such as standing for some goofy reason, or hitting and busting and the dealer flips a 15 I would literally be so done lol.

You’ve probably seen players get upset before, but this one hit different, maybe because of the money involved or how intense their reaction was. It’s okay to feel rattled, to wonder what that $13,000 meant to them, or to second-guess yourself even though you know you did nothing wrong.

Right after something like this, give yourself a breather. Step away from the table if you can, grab a glass of water, or take a few deep breaths. Try a quick grounding trick: focus on five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste. It sounds simple, but it can help calm your mind and bring you back to the present.

There will always be people like this, like the one who said this to you:

Playing blackjack online is nothing but a huge scam. I’ve played countless hours on almost every casino and i make huge bets 2k or better sometimes and I’ve seen it all man. The online blackjack is rigged 100% its a huge billion dollar scam. Your not there so you can’t see how their actually shuffling, what cards their really pulling and what tricks their pulling. Trust me. Go to a real casino in person and play a decent game at a reputable casino but for the love of blackjack please stop donating it to these greedy people.

And I believe your response below was adequate:

It’s not. I’ve been dealing for a while now, there’s no super crazy scheme.

The shoes hold 8 decks of cards. But the red cutting card goes in between the stack of 8 decks. The shoes get switched out and hand shuffled once the cutting card is pulled. I’ve seen 3 blackjacks in a row on a table, and me getting blackjack as the dealer 3 times in a row.

Blackjack is full of odds and BS. That’s it.

It’s not just Blackjack. People can blame the casinos for all sorts of games. Like this Indian guy who believes Stake would rob him in Crash games.

You’re dealing at the VIP table, which means you’re already handling high-stakes games with skill. This incident doesn’t change that. Take a second to give yourself credit for staying professional through that chaos. You kept the game going, didn’t lose your cool, and you’re here now, looking for ways to process it. That’s resilience.

Next shift, you’ll walk back to that virtual table with the same skill and calm you always bring. Maybe you’ll get a player who hits a lucky streak and lights up the chat with excitement. Maybe you’ll just have a smooth night. Either way, you’re ready. Keep a few of these tips in your back pocket, and don’t be afraid to lean on your team when things get intense. You’re not just a dealer; you’re someone who navigates these wild moments with more strength than you might give yourself credit for.
